Macrogen Europe, a leading provider of genomic sequencing services today announced the appointment of Dr Bongcho Kim as its new CEO. The appointment comes at a time of sustained growth for the company, which is benefitting from the rapidly expanding sequencing market thanks to a broad, innovative portfolio of genomic sequencing services.
Dr Kim joins Macrogen Europe BV after a successful career at Macrogen Inc in Seoul, South Korea. He joined Macrogen Inc in 2013 as a general manager for next generation sequencing (NGS) overseas sales, before being promoted to director and later vice president. Most recently, Dr Kim served as the managing director for the company’s technology and innovation division. Dr Kim holds a PhD in pathology from Seoul National University.
To support Macrogen Europe’s position as a comprehensive genomics service provider, expansion of its sequencing capabilities for emerging applications will be a key focus for the incoming CEO. This expansion includes the company’s bioinformatics offering, which has seen increased demand as scientists look for an end-to-end service that helps to reduce workloads and delivers faster analyses and interpretations of sequencing results.
